18th Annual Lincoln Okto Beerfest
An evening of Beer Tasting, Food & Fun, as well as a benefit for the Nebraska State Stroke Association (sponsored by the Greater Lincoln Sertoma Club)
 
When: October 6, 2011 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
 
Location: Lancaster Event Center (84th in the Havelock Avenue) Lincoln ,NE
 
Advance tickets: $30, tickets at the door are $35 (* MUST be 21 years of age to purchase tickets or attend the event).  You may also purchase tickets at 4 Star Drug (Gifts) Online or by stopping in at:

Again this year, VIP tickets are available for a special sitting with exotic beers and unique food.  Tickets are limited to 100 only.  The VIP event is from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at only $50.00 per ticket, which also includes access to the rest of the Beerfest activities.

Nebraska Stroke Symposium
The Nebraska Stroke Symposium has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and major hospitals and Medical Centers in Nebraska. 

The University of Nebraska Medical Center is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for Healthcare professionals practicing in: Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pharmacists, Advanced Practice Nurses, Staff Nurses, Therapists and other healthcare professionals involved in the prevention and treatment of stroke. 
 
The Symposium stresses Use guidelines to improve care, Describe priorities in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, Assesses neuroimaging as related to stroke, Manages issues in post-stroke rehabilitation, Summarizes nursing care priorities, Evaluates triage patient problems and optimizes drug therapies for stroke patients. 

Stroke Awareness Month
In recognition of Stroke Awarness Month, Speakers will be providing one hour inservices for the Staff of the Lincoln Nursing Homes.  Speakers will be Stroke coordinators from BryanLGH Regional Medical Center (Mary Ellen Hook, RN, Stroke Coordinator) and from St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center (Beth Malina, RN, Stroke Coordinator).
