Meet two new members of the Nebraska Stroke Association board: LaRita Lang (left in the photo) and Lucia Scheffel.
LaRita is an administrative coordinator in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and served for years as a volunteer with the University Sertoma Club and the Okto Beerfest fundraiser.
“I have had several family members who had strokes: my mom (passed away from a stroke), mother-in-law and a brother-in-law. I think it is important that the community be informed about stroke (risk factors/prevention/symptoms).”
Lucia is an assistant professor in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
“My decision to join the Nebraska Stroke Association (NSA) Board of Directors is inspired by my experience in patient care, teaching, and research in the area of neurogenic communication disorders and sciences. With so much remaining to be done in order to improve the lives of stroke survivors and their caregivers, I am excited about the opportunity to serve the NSSA community and help increase stroke awareness.”
Welcome, LaRita and Lucia!
